Taxidermy - Together by ScytheDragon Taxidermy - Together by ScytheDragon
I was hesitant in posting any pictures of my taxidermy pieces for a while now, but I see no harm in sharing them with the people who are interested in seeing them. For those of you who may be offended by taxidermy, I simply ask that you keep any and all negative comments to yourself and go back a page or two. I also ask that you do not flame the people who created these pieces. Thank you.

Moving on, these are two of my favorite foxes, Nova and Deadpool. I purchased both of them from *FoxyCreations. She made them both and I must say that she did a wonderful job. Please do yourself a favor and check out her gallery when you have the chance. Nova is the Finnish blue fox and Deadpool is the platinum fox. Their original names just stuck. :)

I'm not a a great fan of Taxidermy I mean I'v not been constantly surrounded by animals to do so but I think its still a beautiful art. These lovely creatures may be dead by they have been stuffed with life and love again, I mean their face expressions...They just look so peaceful and put out of their misery whatever the reason, they look so relaxed!

I have taken quite a liking to this piece of art ^u^

Nice, I had a pet platinum fox once. Would love one again if they only could be house broken :( Such beautiful creatures, and if they didn't die just for the taxidermy, I won't be bitching about it.

It really is. I have read a lot about it and obviously admire the work of others, but I don't think that it is an art form that I have enough time to devote to myself. The work of those that do, though? Some of the pieces that I have come across are amazing.

Why do people give the dead animal skins names? D:

I understand this is an old comment, but I wanted to throw in anyway:

I own dead animal skins, and I name each individually. To me, this helps me bond and love them more, it's a human traight to give something a word to refer to.

Not only this, but I have a spiritual belief that animal skins and pelts still contain something of what they once were, and naming them helps me sort this out more in my mind.

We don't name them just to be silly or funny - there can be real feeling behind it. :)

I do. :) Sorry I didn't mean to sound argumentative, just letting people know both sides of the story. :)

These aren't just dead animal skins; they are taxidermy pieces. Taxidermy is a form of art and, just as, say, paintings are often given titles, some people choose to name their soft mounts. I see no harm in it.

Did you kill them yourself?

No, I did not kill them myself. In fact, the platinum fox even died of old age in captivity. They, along with my other taxidermy pieces, are treated with the utmost respect.

Is a finnish blue the same as a polish bay? They look similar! :P

...You know, that's a very good question. I am familiar with blue foxes, but I only first heard about a polish bay the other day myself, when NID-20 had two for sale on taxidermy.net. (I went ahead and bought a white mark silver from him, but that's besides the point). They do indeed look similar, though. You just might be better off asking *FoxyCreations. :giggle:

Deadpool was my second fox and, while I don't like to play favorites, he may very well be. Next to Nova, though, he's such a scrawny little fox. But, then again, there's no comparison to a big ol' blue. :giggle:

they are beautiful. Foxy does such excellent work.
The colors in the background really compliment their colors too.

Thank you. :) Kelsey's foxes are most certainly amazing.

And haha, while I wish that I could say that the colors were intentional, I just had them posed on my bed for the time being. :XD:

I'm going to have to agree with you. Most of the blues that I have seen as of late are rather dark in color, particularly those from Moscow. I'll be sure to let you know if I see any lighter ones around, though. Would it have to have feet and claws or do you just want a wallhanger?

they need to have feet to be in my personal collection it keeps me from buying every pelt out there. theres a hella pretty white one on moscow i love it but has no feet or bottom jaw im guessing. i was tempted to buy it and put feet on it.

Haha, I know how that is. All of my pelts/pieces must have all of their feet and claws, too. Occasionally, one will find a pleasant surprise on Moscow, though. I took a chance on a picture-less arctic marble cross from them a few months ago and I was thrilled to see that it had all of its feet and a bottom lip no less. They have great pelts. It might be worth it just to buy it and find feet for it later, as you said. As for the bottom lip, did they not post a picture of its underside?

Regardless, I'll keep an eye out for you and if I happen to find one, I'll be sure to let you know. :)

ya wow you found a marb with feet did it say it had all its feet. im really looking for a cross fox to get plused and a silver fox with feet. my priority is the silver or cross because i just paid the stuffing price but no fox hahahaha the silver i was getting done was lost in mail such a shame and heart breaker too.

let me know if you find any of those please, its very kind of you!

It did say that it had its feet and claws, but the bottom lip was a present surprise. It's probably one of my most treasured pelts.

Cross foxes are my personal favorite. :D I am going to guess that you need one sooner rather than later? Hmm...I got one of my crosses from Aktrpr on taxidermy.net. It might be worth it to send him a pm and ask if he has any more that are already tanned. As for silvers, Northern Myst Creations has a few gorgeous ones left and they offer tanning with feet. It would take a few months, but their foxes are beautiful.

I might sell one of my cross pelts, though; not sure yet. It has all of its feet and claws, bottom lip, etc., but I bought it in Alaska last summer without asking if it was mountable. If I do decide to sell it, I'll let you know. And it's never a problem. I love talking taxidermy anyway. :)
